IS THIS A COSTUMED EVENT?

Yes!! Although, costumes are NOT required. We will be giving out awards for the best costume, so come dressed in your spooky best!

HOW LONG ARE THE "FINISH THE RIDE and FINISH THE RUN" EVENTS?

We offer several distances to cover all levels of ability! The rides range from a 12-mile family ride to a grueling Metric Century, and this year we are adding a 5K and 10K for the runners and walkers!

 

IS IT ROUND TRIP?

Yes.

IS THERE A SHUTTLE SERVICE BACK TO THE START?

No, there is no need for a shuttle service since the event starts and ends in the same location. However, we do have support staff available along the route who can bring you back to the start if unable to finish.

 

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER BEFORE THE DAY OF THE RIDE OR RUN?

No. Registration will be available starting at 6 am on the day of the event. However, there will be a price increase of $10 if you register on the day of the event compared to pre-registration. Price ranges are listed in a later question on the FAQ.
 

ARE KIDS FREE?

No, and any child under the age of 14 is required to participate with a parent or guardian.
 

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FINISH THE RIDE AND FINISH THE RUN  EVENTS?

Yes, age limits depend on the category. There are listed on the registration site. Any questions or concerns regarding this, please feel free to contact us.
 

DO I HAVE TO PRE-REGISTER MY CHILD UNDER 10?

Yes, all participants must register prior to the event's start. Children who are in strollers or other carriers and not actively participating in the event do not need to register.
 

DO I HAVE TO RIDE or RUN WITH MY CHILD?

Yes. Children under 14 are required to participate with their parents or legal guardian. Also, a parent or legal guardian is required to sign the waiver form for the child who is participating.
 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO FINISH THE RIDE or RUN?

The cost of the event depends on which course you choose to take. Prices and registration deadlines are below.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY RAISED BY FINISH THE RIDE AND FINISH THE RUN GO?

Proceeds will go to benefit Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), a non-profit 501c3 dedicated to improving the quality of life for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers alike by working to reduce traffic-caused fatalities to Zero.

SAFE addresses the problem in a holistic fashion through direct education, broad awareness campaigns, partnerships, community outreach, policy and legislation, support for those impacted, and other proven strategies.

HOW DO I GET A "FINISH THE RIDE" JERSEY OR "FINISH THE RUN" TECH SHIRT?

All "Finish The Ride" jerseys will be sold for $45 apiece and "Finish The Run" tech shirts will be sold for $30 on the day of the event and for pre-sale. Jerseys do run small, so we recommend ordering one size up. Sign up to be a fundraiser for SAFE and receive a jersey or tech shirt for free (along with other perks) when you reach the goal of $500!  

CAN I CHANGE THE DISTANCE I RIDE OR RUN?

Yes, but if the price for the event is different, an upgrade fee will be required. No refund will be given if you are switching to a shorter/cheaper event.

IF I AM RIDING A TANDEM BIKE, DO I AND MY PARTNER REGISTER AS ONE PERSON OR TWO?

Register as two people as you will both be getting a free t-shirt, both be eligible for the free raffle, etc…

IF I SIGN UP AND CAN’T PARTICIPATE THAT DAY, DO I GET MY MONEY BACK?

No. We do not at this time offer any refund if you can’t participate that day or if the event is canceled/postponed. However, if the event is canceled, all registrations will automatically be deferred to next year's event. 

Also, there are options to turn your registration into a tax-deductible donation or transfer it to another person. Contact our customer service to find out more.

WHAT KIND OF BIKE SHOULD I USE FOR “FINISH THE RIDE”?

Any bike will do for “Finish The Ride” – road bikes, racing bikes, beach cruisers, hybrids, fixies, BMX bikes, mountain bikes, etc. For the longer rides, it is recommended that you have sufficient gears to be able to climb some long steep hills.

CAN I GET MY BIKE TUNED UP BEFORE THE RIDE?

Yes, there will be free repair and tune-up stations available at the ride — before and after. There will also be a bicycle mechanic at a rest stop along the rides that can help with any simple repairs.

WHERE DO I PARK?

Details on parking for Finish The Ride and Finish The Run Santa Clarita will be announced closer to the event itself.

IS THERE A BAG CHECK WHERE I CAN STORE MY STUFF?

No, we do not provide a bag check on the day of the event. Please plan accordingly.

SHOULD I BRING MY OWN WATER BOTTLE?

We do recommend that you bring your own water bottle, but water will be available to all riders and volunteers at the pit stops as well as at the end event safety expo.

WHAT KIND OF REFRESHMENT WILL YOU HAVE?

Free snacks, drinks will be available along the routes. There will also be great food trucks!. A percentage of the cost of any food purchased at the Street Safety Expo will be donated to Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), so feel free to eat lots!

WHAT WILL BE AT THE STREET SAFETY EXPO?

The Street Safety Expo will have lots of vendor booths focusing on products related to street safety and green living. There will be snacks (if donated by sponsors and supporters), beer, live music, dancing, and lots of free samples given out at the vendor booths and a raffle to benefit Streets Are For Everyone.

ARE NON-REGISTERED PEOPLE ABLE TO COME TO THE END EVENT VENUE?

Yes. Anyone is welcomed to come to the end Street Safety Expo. They will not; however, be eligible for the free beer at the beer garden.

WHERE DOES THE EVENT START?

The Santa Clarita event starts at Heritage Park, Santa Clarita (24155 Newhall Ranch Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91355)
 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RIDE?

However long it takes to finish. "Finish The Ride" is not a race, it’s a fun event for all. Speeds will vary from person to person and no one will be left behind on the routes. The riders are fully supported by SAG Support and marshals to guide riders.

WHAT IS THE “FINISH THE RIDE” COURSE LIKE? IS IT ALL BIKE PATH OR DO I HAVE TO RIDE ON CITY STREETS?

Route maps will be available as links on the individual event page and registration site as they become available. 

ARE THERE ANY HILLS ON THE RIDE?

The 12 mile Family Fun Ride and 25 Mile Tour de River are fairly flat, while the Metric Century has some challenging hills. 

WILL STREETS BE CLOSED FOR "FINISH THE RIDE"?

No streets will be closed for Finish The Ride and Finish The Run. It is an open streets event but fully supported by staff, marshals, and SAG. 

IS “FINISH THE RIDE and FINISH THE RUN" A RACE?

The rides are not. The longer rides are considered training rides, meaning some people use them as training for other more strenuous rides in the future. The runs/walks are chip timed.

HOW MANY PIT STOPS ARE THERE?

There will be several pit stops and full support along all routes.

WHAT IF I GET TIRED AND CAN’T FINISH?

There will be ride marshals and other event staff with radios and a van available to pick up fatigued or injured riders/runners/walkers and bring them back to the Street Safety Expo where they can rest up or receive any minor first aid.
 

ARE HELMETS REQUIRED ON “FINISH THE RIDE”?

Yes, helmets will be required for all participating cyclists.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP ON “FINISH THE RIDE and FINISH THE RUN"?

Finish The Ride is always looking for volunteers for Pre-event help as well as help during the event. Go to www.FinishTheRide.org/volunteers, fill out the form, submit and someone will contact you with details on how you can help.

ARE THE EVENTS OF FINISH THE RIDE TIMED?

Rides are NOT timed for safety purposes, and the Runs are chip timed. Finish The Ride and Finish The Run is not a race, it is an event purely for charity.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE?

Yes, dogs are more than welcome at all events. Bring the whole family!
