SUPPORT PROGRAMS TO MAKE OUR STREETS SAFE FOR EVERYONE

DID YOU KNOW?

Approximately 6,500 pedestrians and 900 bicyclists are killed each year as a result of collisions with motor vehicles. 48% of these traffic collisions are hit and run crimes.

YOU CAN HELP CHANGE THIS.

Your tax deductible donation to SAFE will support our efforts to:

Support Sensible Legislation: This is aimed not only at discouraging people from committing hit and run crimes but preventing crashes (due to distracted driving, drunk and drugged driving, etc.) from happening in the first place.
                    Our current legislative successes include:

AB184: Damian's Law -- extending the statute of limitations for hit and run crimes
AB8: Yellow Alert -- enacting a hit-and-run system enabling police to broadcast information on freeway signs about vehicles suspected of fleeing                        serious or fatal crashes.
Standing reward for information on hit and run crimes in Los Angeles city, and many more!
Support of Automated Speed Enforcement on the streets of Los Angeles
Working toward automatic license suspension for those convicted of hit and run crimes
Working with Liam's Law to lower the legal BAC in CA to 0.05 in California
Working with Alcohol Justice in opposition of the 4AM bar bill

Produce Media and Broad Awareness Campaigns: These tackle all street safety issues such as hit and runs, distracted driving, impaired driving (drugs and alcohol) and increasing awareness of pedestrian and bicyclist safety. These include bus ads, billboards, news media, social media and PSA’s made through our amazing Streets, Art, SAFE program.

Provide Direct Education Through Schools: This includes workshops, assemblies, booths at school events and practical drills with students help to directly educate young minds on the importance of driving, walking and cycling safety through our "SAFE Kids" program.

Implement Vision Zero: a program to eliminate traffic deaths and injuries on our streets by 2025. SAFE is working with the city on community engagement projects, street safety project implementation and to help memorialize those lost on our streets to traffic collisions.

Support Victims of Traffic Collisions: the first program of its kind, SAFE Support is a support system for those who have been affected by traffic collisions, especially in those critical few days and weeks after the collision occurs. This program is currently supported in over 15 local trauma centers and hospitals and with your help, can move to cover the whole Southland.

And much more!
